A 10-second motion graphic created using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe After Effects.
I created a 10-second motion graphic for Rochester Institute of Technology’s feast show, which required all participants to begin with a square shape and end with the same shape. By using this common element, each designer’s motion piece could seamlessly blend into one cohesive project.
For my 10-second motion graphic, I crafted a brief narrative centered around a classic thief character then. I chose to depict the thief in a traditional manner, as it was important to establish the character’s identity at first glance in the short time frame.
During the development of this project, my primary focus was on honing the motion principles and graphic design of each individual frame. The animation rules presented the greatest difficulty, requiring me to devise a plausible means of moving the character’s head forward, seamlessly transitioning from one scene to the next, and fluidly keying the character’s movements.
These challenges were entirely novel to me, prompting me to view numerous tutorials to master the techniques required to create a polished motion piece. Despite these hurdles, I am pleased to have successfully produced the final product.
